Te Araroa (The Long Pathway) is New Zealand's newest long distance tramping route. The trail has approximately 300 sections: Down the coastlines, through the forest, across farmland, over volcanoes and mountain passes, along river valleys, and on green pathways through seven cities. It is being built by Te Araroa Trust and is due for completion in 2011.
The straight line distance from Cape Reinga to Bluff is 1475 km (916 miles), however Te Araroa Trail covers a longer distance of 3,030 km (1,880 miles). It is estimated that a tramp along the full length of the trail will take approximately 3.5 months. Learn more about Te Araroa Trail here.
